Inspired by nature to creatively advance new therapeutics

We are a diverse group of investigators from the fields of biology, chemistry, engineering, and clinical medicine engaged in fundamental biomedical research and translational studies to creatively advance new therapeutics and elucidate mechanisms of disease. In our embrace of team science, we have engaged in large consortia sponsored by the NIH and NSF that seek to advance the fields of gene therapy, glycoscience, cancer, and tissue engineering; often through understanding underlying processes of innate and adaptive immunity that lead to disease or are responsible for organ repair and regeneration. Our work has helped to inspire advances that have led to new drugs and devices, as well as cell-based therapies, artificial organs, and engineered living tissues that define the evolving field of regenerative medicine. A key part of our mission is to move discoveries from the laboratory into the market.
